What a great day for picnic! About 100 folks attended the new and improved LWWCL Summer picnic at McKendree UMC. Pastor Michelle Louk, as always, generously supported the civic league by giving us access to the church kitchen and restrooms, grounds and shelter, and even their grill. Burgers and hot dogs from the grill and lots of salads and sides were on the menu.
Norfolk Police Chief Goldsmith, several of his officers, Sheriff Bob McCabe, and City Council Super Ward 6 representative Barclay Winn came out for a bite and to socialize. For the kids, the Bouncy House was a big hit–and the Norfolk Fire Department’s water tanker and hook and ladder were an even a bigger hit. Meadowbrook Forest Resident David Welsh pulled together some musicians for an afternoon of guitar, fiddle and keyboard blues tunes. Throw in a cornhole tournament and 50/50 raffle, and the day was great fun.
Thanks to everyone who came out–and especially to our board of directors and volunteers who pulled it all together.
